Well Being in the Work Place
A satisfied workforce is an effective workforce
What Is It?
"A Quiet Place® Well Being in the Workplace" is designed to develop initiatives in the private and public sector which support well being in the workplace and the social environment.
It is a holistic programme, tailored to fit the needs of individual companies who wish to promote and support health and well being for their employees.
"A Quiet Place®-Well-Being in the Work Place" is a programme run by A Quiet Place®.
Aims:
- The development of well-being in the workforce through raising awareness of stress related difficulties.
- The provision of ongoing support for staff
Objective:
- To provide layered levels of support for staff.
- To offer a variety of techniques to support the aims.
- To offer choices of programmes to staff.
- It aims to provide on-going support and training for staff within the context of the company.
Early intervention in stress related problems has been shown to be extremely effective in the prevention of symptoms which can lead to staff sickness, and the development of mental problems.
Why was it set up?
The programme was set up because of concern for staff well-being and a wish to maximise the effective and efficient working of the company.
- 80% of all illness is stress related
- Stress costs money - according to HMSO £3billion pounds per annum
- 2% of GNP is lost each year through stress related problems
- Sensitive and supportive management strategies have proved again and again to save money and human resources
- A positive and empowered staff, who feel appreciated, are more productive
It was felt to be important to develop a programme to provide effective, non-stigmatising, early interventions, preferably within the work setting.
Such intervention helps people manage the stresses of life better, minimise absences, and ensure that each member of staff feels supported and valued.
The programme is educational allowing and supporting the implementation of a healthy lifestyle.
