A Quiet Place ®: Theta Family Groups ™ and Inclusion:

A Quiet Place ® focuses on supporting children efficiently and effectively in schools

The Key to longer term work is:

  • Effective techniques for children to self manage
  • Security and special time provided for the child through consistent attention from key adult/s.
  • Self reliance and independence developed through social skills training.

Aims:

  • To provide a family group of consistent adults for regular daily support
  • To develop self reliance and independence
  • To develop emotionally -resilience and empathy
  • To develop social skills- self awareness, good communication, respect
  • To have a familiar place to return whilst developing social skills, self esteem and self confidence.

Outcomes:

Safe support for children who need longer term more intensive intervention than is on offer from A Quiet Place ® short term programmes, in order to access education.

Criteria for referral:

Children are selected when they have been identified with issues such as:

  • being emotionally immature
  • developmental delay
  • school phobic
  • neglect
  • long term bullying etc.

At any one time up to a maximum of 12 children would access the programme.

Staffing: The Theta family team in each school, would consist of at least 3 staff, including 1 teacher who would plan daily curriculum.
